About Sugarloaf Church
Sugarloaf Church is an island church committed to teaching, reaching, and serving the Island people of the Middle and Lower Keys.
A multi-generational island family
At Sugarloaf, we offer a family friendly atmosphere with a multi-generational church. We love to minister to people of all ages with a special emphasis on kids, and we love welcoming Snowbirds, Campers, and other travelers as you frequent our area.

Our Story
Sugarloaf Church was planted just over 40 years ago by Fifth Street Baptist Church in Key West. Established with traditional Southern Baptist roots, the church was planted in a community nearly 20 minutes from another church. Located across from Sugarloaf School, we remain thankful for those who had the vision and faithfulness to establish a church in this community.
In late 2023, Sugarloaf Church began an intentional season of revitalization after facing the possibility of closing its doors. With God’s help, under our present leadership, we have been blessed to see renewed life, growth, and opportunities for ministry. Today, we embrace traditional roots with a modern approach. While our biblical convictions and theological foundations remain unchanged, we warmly welcome people from a variety of Christian backgrounds, including Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Pentecostal, Reformed, Anglican, and nondenominational traditions. As a church serving both year-round residents and seasonal visitors, our desire is to be a place where people can worship together, grow in God’s Word, and feel at home in the Florida Keys.
What We Believe
At Sugarloaf Church, we believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word and the foundation for everything we teach and practice. We believe salvation comes by grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ, and that the church exists to glorify God, make disciples, and share the hope of the gospel.
Our theological convictions are rooted in historic Baptist beliefs, as expressed in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. While we hold firmly to these biblical convictions, we warmly welcome people from a variety of Christian traditions to worship, fellowship, and grow with us.
